Recently on Facebook, I asked the following question;
If you saw a UFO or had any kind of a suspected alien encounter, would you report it to the authorities? For that matter, would you even tell anybody at all about it?
I received a lot of interesting replies from my friends, some of them actually even addressed the question.
You might be surprised how few people took the question seriously.
One option presented by MM and LG, is get with the media. That is one option we should discuss, what are all the pros and cons of media attention?
WT suggests calling Sir Paul, but I might think real hard before going that route.
I assure NM that I am not the one you should call. There are a million people to call before me.
BG says he would recommend professional psychiatric assistance. That is actually a very interesting topic to bring up also. What is the impact on your life when the world thinks you are crazy?
Let's start with the psychological aspect of this.
As you know, the human mind is an interesting and mysterious thing, that we somehow communicate with, through a couple pounds of rather disgusting looking meat, that we like to call our brain. We say that the mind can play tricks on us, but I think in most cases it is the brain playing those tricks. A bit of undercooked beef, or a bad potato, as Dickens might have said, can play havoc on the body's chemistry, not to mention what drugs and alcohol will do. So first we must be sure, beyond a doubt in our own mind, that we actually saw anything in the first place.
Once convinced of the encounter in our own mind, we must now convince others that we saw what we claim to have seen. This goes for anyone you tell, including the media, the authorities or even your closest friend. They will have to wonder about drugs, alcohol or a bit of undigested pork.If you pass muster on those, they will question your very sanity. If they have never seen what you are describing, then they will have no choice, but to wonder, if finally, your quirky personality and eccentric manners, have finally gone full blown 51-50 bat shit crazy and may be in need of psyciatric help and maybe a long rest somewhere.
So, that is an overriding issue, in any disclosure, that you may make, to anyone.

I will add more topics as time permits, but for now Let's just consider what happens when you go to anyone, whether they be the press or other branch of mass-media, the cops or other authorities, or even just confiding in a friend who does not share your belief and thinks you have to be crazy.
